Frequent doubts

What does “estar en ascuas” mean?

To be on tenterhooks: impatient or anxious to know something. ¡No me dejes en ascuas y cuéntamelo ya!

What does “ser harina de otro costal” mean?

That something is a different matter and should not be mixed with what we are talking about: Eso que dices es harina de otro costal.

Why do some idioms use ser and others estar?

Idioms keep the verb they were born with, so they are learned as a block. As a tendency, ser describes what someone is like (ser un aguafiestas) and estar a situation (estar mano sobre mano).

Can I retake the test?

Yes, as many times as you want, with no account and no email. We recommend reviewing the related materials and coming back a few days later.
