The Spanish Forum, owner of this website (thespanishforum.com), is responsible for the personal data described on this page, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the Spanish Data Protection Act (Ley Orgánica 3/2018, LOPDGDD).
| Data | Why we use it | Legal basis | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|---|
| “¡Olé!” ticket: your IP address, which your browser sends to ipapi.co and flagcdn.com | To show your approximate city and its flag on the ticket at the end of each page. | Our legitimate interest in welcoming the learners who visit us (art. 6.1.f GDPR). | We do not receive it or store it. ipapi.co and flagcdn.com handle it under their own privacy policies. |
| Visit counter: no personal data | To show the total number of visits on the ticket. | It does not use personal data. | Only the total number is kept. A temporary mark in your browser stops you being counted twice in the same visit and disappears when you close the tab. |
| Server logs: IP address, browser, page requested, date and time | To keep the website secure and to fix errors. | Our legitimate interest in the security of the website (art. 6.1.f GDPR). | 30 days, then they are deleted. |
We do not collect any other personal data. The website has no comments, no user accounts and no contact forms, and it never asks for your name. We do not build profiles or make automated decisions about you.
The tests run on Google Forms and the videos on YouTube (in its privacy-enhanced mode). Nothing from Google or YouTube loads until you press “Start the test” or play a video. From that moment, Google receives the usual technical data from your browser, such as your IP address, and may use its own cookies, under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). The tests do not ask for your name or your email: your answers are anonymous. If you prefer not to connect to Google, simply do not start the test or the video.
Links to other websites take you to pages with their own privacy policies, which do not depend on us.
At the end of each page, a small ticket welcomes you from your city to Madrid. When it comes into view, your browser asks ipapi.co for your approximate city based on your IP address, and loads the flag image from flagcdn.com. These two services receive your IP address directly from your browser, under their own privacy policies, and may be located outside the European Economic Area. We do not receive or keep your IP address or your city. If one of these services does not answer, the ticket simply shows “the world”. You can block them in your browser without affecting anything else on the website.
We never sell your data or give it to anyone. The hosting company that keeps the website online processes the server logs on our behalf, under a data processing agreement. The services that your browser contacts directly — YouTube and Google Forms when you press play or start a test, and ipapi.co and flagcdn.com for the “¡Olé!” ticket — receive the usual technical data from your browser, such as your IP address, under their own privacy policies.
You can ask to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its use or receive it in a portable format, and you can object to its use. You can withdraw your consent at any time; this does not affect anything done before.
