Only in the third persons: durmió, durmieron. The others are regular: dormí, dormiste, dormimos, dormisteis. Morir works the same way: murió, murieron.
When the stem ends in a vowel, the i of -ió and -ieron becomes y: leer → leyó, oír → oyeron, construir → construyó, huir → huyeron.
Yes, in the forms where the i is stressed: leí, leíste, leímos; oí, oíste, oímos. Construir does not: construí, construiste.
