The theory

A two-page exercise on present tense verbs that change e to i, such as pedir, repetir, seguir, corregir or reír. First you complete the stems with e or i; then you write the yo and vosotros forms, with model tables of pedir and decir.

Frequent doubts

Which persons change e>i?

All except nosotros and vosotros: pido, pides, pide, piden; but pedimos and pedís.

Are all e>i verbs -ir verbs?

Yes, this change only happens in -ir verbs: pedir, servir, seguir, repetir, medir, vestirse, reír.

Why sigo and not sigue?

Seguir changes e to i and also loses the u before o, which keeps the hard g sound: sigo, sigues, sigue.
